The last night....

As I type away, I am really feeling sleepy and giddy. I have been at The Wine Company for almost 3.5hrs. Chit chatting with colleagues, sharing, watching "show". It has been a really fun night but with no pictures taken with the "star" of the night. It's NJ last day tomorrow or today with us. He has been a really nice and sincere guy though I hardly talk to him. Honestly speaking, I do like him as a person but not really a colleague. He's definitely a good colleague to work with, but I hate it when he calls "Alison, come here" or XXX, come here. There's no please or he won't walk over if he has a request. No harm done though. The night started with small talks and then to real serious planning. I was just sharing with Colin about backpacking and travelling around, just taking a risk and casting everything aside - career, family, friends, church, whatever and whoever. He was just briefly mentioning what a killer insurance premium is. Honestl...

Simple Handmade Cards to Express.....

Gratitude My mum has discharged from hospital for about 2 months liao. I wanted to get something for a few friends who have visited my mum and prayed for her but I kept delaying it. Finally I got something from Prints, my favorite store, and decided to make cards for them.

Another Friday the 13th

Ironically, the surprise venue for my dept dinner is where? Pulau Ubin!!! After about 8 hours at the island, I was back to the island for another 3 hours! I think that's the longer stay I ever had to stay in Pulau Ubin for 11 hours. But we really had fun knowing one another and building relationship.

Friday the 13th

Though it's supposed to be a dark Friday but there's simply nothing dark about this day. It's the start of my Masterclass. My beloved Masterclass which I have chosen over the trip to Krabi with my company. I am sure it is much more fun to go Krabi. But I chose to stay on this Masterclass because I wanted to break free from my usual self. I hope to be able to understand myself better and also to know more of the colleagues whom I don't work with. Widen my social contacts in a sense. Woke as early as 0615 when the sky is still dark. It's been ages since I woke up before the sun rises! @_@ I was supposed to reach office lobby by 0730 so that we can set off to OBS. I have always wanted to go there for some obstacle course. Guess what, we didn't have the roughing out action but we have a roughing brain exercise. There were some personality test that we have to take:MBTI. It's rather accurate, I will say about 95%. ISFP Quiet, friendly, sensitive, and kind. Enjoy...

Fish & Co

It has been wonderful to catch up with good friend after so many months. The last that I met her was in May while visiting her during her house warming. But we didn't really get to talk because she was busy taking care of guests and there were some of our other friends as well. I was only expecting her for dinner but apparently, her husband who was bored at home joined us too. I was jokingly telling her if she can ask the "light bulb" not to join us. haha... "dian deng pao" But it was a good dinner and well, many interruptions too. Don't know what's the special day but apparently there at least 4-5 birthday celebrations and the crew was cheering and singing birthday songs almost throughout the whole session of catching up. Disruptive, yet it was interesting to see the Fish & Co crew to be filled with enthusaism and passion to celebrate the customers' birthday and of course offer a small piece of cake to cheer them up.

Costume Party Part 2

I am rather happy to upload these pictures finally. There are more to be added however, but I am still having problems and it has been quite a hectic week. My eyelids are drooping as I am type now, can't keep them opened. During BBG just now, Ed Silvoso was preaching a good message. But it hardly caught my attention and half an hour after the session started, I was trying real hard not to doze off! Sigh.... My brain ain't working and I have to reach office by 0730 today (Friday the 13th)! Well it's the first day of Masterclass. This 6-week training is organized for the Junior staff who have been with the company for more than 6 months to a year. I am quite excited but then apprehensive at the same time. For those who have attended, they have commented that this is a road to self-discovery and career advancement but you gotta be prepared for fire-fighting. Oh God, I need the strength. This training takes up both Fridays and Saturdays from 0900 to 1800. Only Sundays left for...

Ah-Yo Day

Ah yo... I wanna upload more pix for the costume party and it took me a whole day! The files were too big and then there was problem trying to rotate the pictures. I can't wait to post more of them! Today is a day for closing. Even Aaron has fallen sick this time round and we were both irritated by the tying of figures. Each time I update the figures, the overall changes and then there will be another 2 files which needs to be changed. And when I change the figures, it affects Mr Tang too! Ah yo!!! Simply irritating. Another ah-yo thing is I actually got to know an MD of a Telco company who is only 33 years old! So young.... I mean not his own company but working under an employer and I thought the MD for one of my company's division was young. Wonder when will it be my turn for promotion? But most importantly, I need to do my part well at this moment. Learning the ropes and understanding the business and nature of the company.

Affection ~ Affected?

Definition of Affection (from Latin ad, and facere, meaning "to do something to") ~ an emotion that derives from the recognition of one's own values in the character of another . American psychologist Henry Murray (1893–1988) developed a theory of personality that was organized in terms of motives, presses, and needs . According to Murray, these psychogenic needs function mostly on the unconscious level , but play a major role in our personality . Murray classified five affection needs: Affiliation: Spending time with other people . Nurturance: Taking care of another person . Play: Having fun with others . Rejection: Rejecting other people . Succorance: Being helped or protected by others Should one's character be affected by the people around them? Isn't affection an emotion that is ignited by the love that one has for others instead one that is triggered by others? And why should one be affected by the people around him/her? I guess it's a personal choice an...

MS Excel 2003 EXPERT

I am now an expert of MS Excel 2003. Why? Because that's what the name of the course I have attended and completed the exam for. It's really great to have company who is willing to send their staff for training. Because of this opportunity, I can now have the EXPERT's certificate. hehe... The total score of the exam is 1000 and what's the passing mark? 650. There were just so many sections and steps to remember, 70% of which is not exactly relevant at the moment. I was abit concerned if I can remember what I have learnt. Thankfully, with the effort of the instructor and revisions, I managed to get a passing mark of 938! :> To end off the day, I went for facial appointment for relaxation with a steam bath prior to the facial. It's good to lose the excess water stored in the body. I wanna have a slimmer me before end of the year. After facial, met up with Stitch for awhile @ Toa Payoh's Ya Kun. Now it's time to Zzzzzzzz.

2 a.m!!!!

It's 2 am in the morning and I am still awake! I've been awake since 10am this morning, supposedly, to do marketing with my mum. Anyway, I ended up packing my clothes, ironing and hanging them; swept the floor and rested for awhile; visited my grandma who's in hospital from 4 to 7pm!! Sigh, not that I wanna complain but it was 3 hrs doing nothing. Well, not exactly, chatted with my aunt for awhile and did some word puzzles. My grandma is so much better now compared to last week when fever goes up occasionally. I can't imagine myself being so weak and helpless at that age. My aunt was just commenting that there are 6 of them, brothers and sisters, so it's not so tedious. But if it were to be us, @_@, I was jokingly saying 12hrs each person to rotate. That's why it's good to marry young and have more children if it's possible and within financial means. Of course, this is just an ideal planning. My supervisor commented that sometimes I am just too positive...
